Every few weeks, I take a lap around the web (hence the .1) for remarkable people, articles, and threads about running. Enjoy!
In Hill & Dale Issue 6, I referenced two competitors sprinting towards the finish line at a Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot in Troy, New York. In the video, Xavier Salvador of Washington D.C., appears to bump Jack Huber of Delmar, New York, causing him to crash into a metal gate at the finish chute.
Salvador was disqualified from the race and apologized to Huber afterward, though Huber said Salvador didn’t take responsibility for the skirmish. I love competition, but they were racing for fourth place. Fourth.
Across the ocean, two popular United Kingdom YouTubers, Josh Pieters and Archie Manners, organized an unofficial half marathon inside London’s Heathrow Airport. The winner, Dan Jarvis, finished in 67:30.
After twenty-one years, Birmingham’s Mercedes-Benz Marathon will end. The race benefits the Bell Center for Early Intervention Programs. 10,000 runners are expected to partake in the festivities.
Finally, North Carolina State’s Katelyn Tuohy, winner of the 2022 NCAA Division I Cross Country Championship, signed a NIL (name, image, and likeness) contract with Adidas.
I hope you have a great day. We’ll talk soon.
